Data Teams®

As educators, we continually strive to foster student achievement: We focus on what to teach, how to teach it, and how to meet individual student needs. And as we develop strategies, lay plans, and make decisions to facilitate learning, two things become imperative for boosting student achievement:

  • The most effective decisions are based on solid data, not anecdotal impressions.
  • It is critical that we collaborate to identify specific areas of student need, mutually decide on the best instructional approach in response to those needs, and intentionally achieve our collective purpose of learning for all.

This is why our Data Teams® process is a collaborative model for implementing data-driven decision making at the instructional level, providing a structure for teachers to specifically identify areas of student need and jointly deciding on the best instructional approach in response to those needs.

Data Teams enable schools and school systems to break down the silos of individual practice and create professional teams of educators who continuously reflect on and improve their practice.

Your Data Teams will learn to:

  • Collaborate to examine student formative assessment data
  • Develop short-cycle Data Team assessments
  • Monitor data
  • Analyze strengths and obstacles
  • Establish learning goals
  • Select common instructional strategies for groups of students
  • Develop result indicators to measure and monitor the learning

Your current Professional Learning Communities are a great framework, but Data Teams are what make them work!
